A living hub for regeneration, collaboration, and community-led change
Located in the heart of Mullumbimby, the Mullum Gardens EcoHub is a thriving 6.9-acre site hosting a network of grassroots organisations including the Mullumbimby Community Gardens and several other initiatives working across food resilience, community and climate impact.
Established in 2006, the EcoHub has grown from a community garden into a dynamic ecosystem of community initiatives and enterprises. Today, the site is home to initiatives including Mullumbimby Community Gardens, ReForest Now’s Rainforest Nursery, the Mullum Organic Food Co-op, the Mullum Men’s Shed, Organic Landcare, Seed Northern Rivers and other emerging projects including a new regional Environment Centre.
By integrating community-driven food production, reforestation, environmental education, and local enterprise, the EcoHub demonstrates the value of local regeneration in action — supporting both ecological health and community resilience.
Seed Northern Rivers is the license holder on site, leasing the site from Byron Shire Council and supporting the EcoHub through governance, infrastructure coordination, insurance, and fundraising.
Held collectively and shaped by many hands over time, the EcoHub continues to evolve as a place for collaboration, learning, and experimentation — a living example of what’s possible when community and ecology are placed at the centre.
